The Genii reading program focuses on increasing proficiency for low performing students and implements instructional practices with proven results. Our reading program aligns with the critical elements of phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Our method of instructional practice is proven to be the most effective method for K4-12 students. It is the most effective means for Genii tutors to recognize individual learning styles, preferences, and skill gaps.

The Genii math program is based on a proven combined approach of explicit, systematic instruction and strategic instruction. Explicit (direct) instruction is most successful when a child has problems with a specific or isolated skill. Breaking down instruction into steps, working in small groups, questioning students directly, and promoting ongoing practice and feedback seem to have a greater impact when combined with systematic strategies. Genii tutors use effective proven instructional practices to increase Math proficiency for students K4-12

1. Student Assessment
Prior to starting sessions each student is given a skills assessment. We assess the student’s skill sets in each subject and identify areas that require development.

2. Individual Learning Plan
Results from the diagnostic assessments are used to generate an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for the student. The ILP reveals the assessed skill gaps and identifies learning activities that need attention. We outline an array of lesson plans that will make up the student’s individualized tutoring curriculum.

3. Customized Sessions
Tutoring sessions are located at the student school. After school 2x’s a week.

4. Monitoring
We monitor student performance progress on-going. Formal progress reports are sent home after completion of 20hours of service. Parents can also contact our office for updates at any time.
